Conductivity Sensors in Energy Production

Conductivity in Power Generation

Conductivity sensors, which detect total dissolved solids (TDS), help to monitor and control water used in energy production facilities. For steam generation applications, water purity is critical to prevent corrosion and scale. Power plants that incorporate a demineralization process to ensure the water is ultrapure utilize conductivity sensors in each bed (cation, anion, mixed) to monitor when ion-exchange resins are nearing exhaustion. In boiler feedwater, conductivity measurements confirm the water quality and alert operators to mitigate contaminants or process control requirements. AlpHa has sensor solutions uniquely tailored to each application, including continuous (process) monitoring sensors, laboratory / field electrodes, and cartridge options for multiparameter / sonde.
