Free & Total Chlorine in Drinking Water
Free & Total Chlorine in Drinking Water
Chlorine plays a crucial role in maintaining water quality as it is a predominant chemical disinfectant in water treatment systems. However, in drinking water treatment facilities, it is necessary to assess free and total chlorine levels in greater detail to ensure treatment effectiveness. Also, this helps to prevent the formation of harmful byproducts. To resolve this, Alpha has developed the RC68 Free Chlorine sensor and RC67 Total Chlorine sensor with the following attributes:
Measurement Range Options: Available ranges include 0 – 2 ppm, 0 – 5 ppm, 0 – 10 ppm, 0 – 20 ppm, and 0 – 100 ppm, adjustable within 0 – 100 ppm.
Output Formats: Supports both analog (4 – 20 mA or 0 – 5 V) and digital (RS-485 MODBUS RTU) outputs.
High Accuracy and Resolution: Offers a resolution of 0.01 ppm and an accuracy of 0.2 ppm or 4%, whichever is greater.
Temperature Compensation: Integrated temperature compensation ensures reliable readings across a range of 0 to 50°C. Wide pH Range: Operates independently of pH between 6 to 9, with compensation available outside this range. Flow Rate: Effective at a minimum flow rate of 30 L/hr and a maximum of 60 L/hr. Quick Response Time: Achieves 90% of the final reading within 120 seconds. Durable Construction: Available in various housing materials including PVC, CPVC, ABS, and Ryton, with custom options to meet specific needs. Alpha’s reliable RC68 Free Chlorine sensor features amperometric measurement technology which operates on an electrochemical principle. This sensor provides direct readings without the need for additional chemical reagents. Their high accuracy, real-time monitoring capabilities, and low maintenance requirements make them essential for ensuring water safety and compliance with health standards. By integrating these sensors, water treatment facilities can maintain optimal disinfection levels, protect public health, and achieve operational efficiency. Because measurement of combined chlorine is important in treatment systems, having a total chlorine sensor is pivotal. This why we developed the RC67 Total Chlorine sensor, utilizing the same reliable amperometric technology encompassing both free and combined chlorine. Free Chlorine Sensor from Alpha
