Ion-Selective Electrodes in Power Generation

ISE in Power Generation

Ion-selective electrodes (ISE) are utilized in various power generation applications. Measuring specific ion concentrations can be an important indicator for purity, performance, and efficiency:

  • Sodium in boiler feedwater and steam to indicate purity/contamination
  • Chloride to ensure purity of boiler cleaning solutions, boiler feedwater, and other high purity waters / effluents
  • Fluoride in nuclear fuel reprocessing
  • Water hardness, also referred to as total calcium and magnesium, to confirm performance of membrane filtration, reverse osmosis (RO) systems, and ion-exchange systems
