The expansion of global seaborne transportation has created a massive undertaking in formulating ballast water management protocols that include pH and a host of other water quality measurements. Ballast water is the most common way for ships to adjust the way the vessel floats and is balanced in transit, especially when cargo has been emptied. The proper treatment of ballast water is critical to safeguard local environments, hence the need to deploy multiparameter sensors & sonde.
The Need for Multiparameter Sensors & Sonde in Ballast Water Treatment
Combining multiple water quality parameters into a single device provides a convenient method for installation and monitoring. This is especially important for smaller systems where space is a premium or where piping insertion points are limited. Common parameters combined include pH, ORP, conductivity, and temperature. AlpHa’s multiparameter sensor & sonde offers flexibility in measurements, with the sensor capable of detecting 5 different parameters simultaneously, while the sonde can detect up to 9 parameters.
