Water is critical as both a primary ingredient, as well as a processing component in food and beverage production. In order to comply with government regulations and ensure high quality, water must be treated and tested throughout. Testing takes place during cleaning, sanitizing, packaging, and cooling to maintain high standards. Wastewater is discharged at the end of the process and must be monitored and treated before it is released. Oxidation-reduction potential (ORP or REDOX) measurements are critical in food & beverage applications to ensure human health and safety. Application examples where ORP is measured are as follows:
